One of our big questions in the project was, "Can children follow the directions to make a recipe?" This week we proved the answer. Our goal was for the adult to be a helping hand, while the children cooked independently.
Making the Batter
We know what a sieve is and how to use it.
It takes practice to carefully pour and measure the milk.
Most of the class has taken a turn at cracking an egg during the project.
We are experts at whisking away the big lumps.
Cooking the Pancakes
We spoon the batter onto the hot griddle.
Then it's time to look for bubbles so we know when to flip the pancakes.
The spatula chases a pancakes around the griddle and, with a twist of the wrist, it's flipped.
Finally, it's time to put them on the plate.
