Thank you to all the family members who attended our worship on Tuesday. As we read through the Easter story the children have taken to heart the story of Christ's life. We took time to acknowledge the sadness that comes with His death, and then joyfully remembered that that is not the end of the story. On Thursday the children drew the last picture for their Lenten journal, the angels telling the women that the grave is empty and Jesus is alive!
MS used her own words to retell the story of the disciples praying in the garden with Jesus:
C'mon, let's go get God to be better. They went over the rock and then they said, "God, be better!" The boys were sleeping on the spot. He was praying right on the rock, next to the tree.
As you look through your child's Lenten journal with her or him, they will need you to read the text to remind them of the story from that day. They are very proud of their work.
We have told stories of Jesus using our bodies in worship, by drawing in our Lenten journal, and through paint. This week the children painted a night sky and green garden, and then added sleeping disciples. When we return after Easter break, our painting, and the River Class painting of Christ's entry to Jerusalem, will be on display.
